HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday, celebrated or not. I know the economy has been tough on people so I am hoping people are really making the best out of what they do have.

I am currently in California myself visiting friends and family. My trip has been great, I love seeing my nearest and dearest. I seem to be hitting up every hookah bar in the area. I am having a blast! Going to head out to the bay tomorrow and hang out over there till my return to the "great northwest"

So I had a bit of internet time and I thought I would drop in to say hi to everyone. wish you safe Holidays and a happy new year. And do a little feature :-)

Updates

More work is on the way...I am trying to finish a piece before the deadline of the Winter White Contest I am a judge and this is the only contest so far that has let judges enter so I think I will give it a whirl

New modeling photos as well, gotta show you guys the new hair..I am LOVING IT! I can totally rock cool metal colours now, and that means fun things for some fashion in the future....

speaking of fashion...I am working with one of my favorite designers on some corset fronts for her upcoming line of clothing, as well as helping design some of the images for her specialty summer wear. It's going to be super awesome!

This is a collection of what is in my watchlist that catches my attention...total deviations to go through: 5,236

That took a while.
Having gone through ALL of my watched Deviations stacks...and accidentally removing 3 of the other images I was going to feature, these are the images that caught my attention the most.. I either like the flow, the effort, the talent, or the light and colours..
I am sure I missed some great pieces, in the overwhelming-ness of having just done through 5,000+ deviations.
I did my best to give everything (even the not so great pieces) a good look.

------------------------------------------I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY--------------------------------------

About the Clubs

Having gone through all those deviations, I come to a solemn point: Do not read this in an elitist tone, I am far from one of those.   this is more of a "bites lip, come on guys we know this already" tone. and do your best to read it all if you feel you are going to respond...this shouldn't turn into a debate...I am pretty neutral here

Alot of what I went through in my watched devations were from clubs.. that I am in or support.

I do want to extend my "disappointment" with how people are abusing the auto submissions of certain clubs, it's really really ridiculous, and people really really need to start using their best discretion when they are choosing which things they are going to want featured...
I know it's exciting to have new pieces done to show the world...but when you have 20 pieces in a club in a row..this is abuse...I am not even going to touch "skill level" right here, but out of just plain respect and professionality, I highly HIGHLY recommend picking one or two that best represent your work, and if the person wants to see more, they will find you. If you force your work on people, they are most likely going to have an aversion to it.

As for skill level; club admins, being one myself, I know it is really hard to deny someone's submission from a club, "who are we to say what's good and what's not"
we all try to be nice here and help and support those that may need feedback or are still learning..but on top of your contributors, think of your members and watchers...there is a balance as to just how many "not as aesthetic, or show of technically skilled" pieces they are going to let pop up in their inbox before leaving the club. I am all up for support, I like that a lot of clubs give constructive feedback when they do choose to deny something, and I think that is the best way to do it..

I am not by any means saying that beginners shouldn't be featured. Everyone has to start somewhere...I support those trying to learn and develop.. I still am myself.

The frequency though...

It's hard to say this because I know people get all defensive when this subject comes up..but seriously quality over quantity, and by using that rule, maybe it will add more drive to those learning to get better..faster. Fighting more for that spot.

Oh yes, the "discouragement" issue..
quite frankly,
if someone gives up on art because they were denied on here by a club, and they are not willing to take the criticism and try harder,  then you weren't cut out to be an artist, I promise, this is the least of the rejection you may end up facing in the world of art..

I do think DA needs to come up with a constructive criticism feed better than the one they have, for EVERYONE to use. The fact that it is a membership only thing makes me a little angry.

That's my 2 cents and I think it is pretty sound.. I again am not trying to separate the skill levels.. just trying to bring up a point of responsibility of discretion
